start a menu...make a site... sounds like a project going nowhere...

LOL

you crazy day dreaming crackers.

Yeah, that code is pretty long for what it does. You'll want to use case statements and call a function... you don't want your routine to read through every freakin' if statement in the loop. that's so slow... you want it to find the answer, and perform the task and jump back into the loop. you don't want to find the answer and then keep asking questions...

Ok, so one small problem will be making car to rotate as the road gets higher or lower on some places, it is not totaly flat. I mean rotate up down and follow the road rotation angle, how to do it, i`m not sure, anyways i hope you guys will be entusiastick about this project, i already aranged website and everything... it wouldnt be nice to quit now, anyways we shouldnt care about that problem, we will solve it as we come up to it, we should now start working on the game, main many and others are just essencialls witch we will do on the END, or else we will never start working on the game this way..

Can the menu be a "launcher" for the DBC program made in DBP? It would solve a LOT of problems with transparency.

I edited the gun and ammo handling code a little bit to do less checks. It uses one big function that is only called when 'p' is pressed(assuming 'p' changes weapon). After that, it just goes through ammo and clip variables:

We're all going to need one map to work on, or it will become chaos. Something like this, I think.

So what exactly do we have done right now? We should make a checklist on the site so we can see our progress.

I already have non free hosting that supports much more

http://chicagorush.servegame.com/

And a great site installed

Ok, the plan : We should finish main manu and other gadgets LAST, becouse there is MUCH more work on phisics and everything, so what have we done ? i retextured that truck...

OK, SO HERE IS TO-DO LIST :

Quote: "-Map (2d map to be put in a corner like in gta, and i suggest fake names, becouse we would have to get authorisation otherwise)
(WE GOT ONE, ONLY TO CHANGE NAMES...)"

Quote: "-3D map (FIRST PART AT LEAST), done by making houses position fit the map, it shouldnt be that hard"

Quote: "-Add a character in third person, make the camera follow, and make him to walk on keypress and etc. (We could use DarkMatter model)"

Quote: "-MAKE CAR MODELS, or use some from DarkMatter/Or the ones that go with db, but retextured.. and make an get in, out engine."

That is to do list for now, it will be expended when we finish this tasks..

p.s. How do you like the site ? I should get it in full form by tommorow, so that we can post files on forum there.

Awesome site Dodic! I like it a lot. We should use "nice" models for cars and such. None of the low-poly nonsense. DarkMatter has some good ones.

Thanks ,

Yeap, but i dont think we can use too much "nice" models, we need to keep our polycount in track, and if possible in every demo version we make, we should print out the poly count to the screen, just for us to know.

Yeah, lets all try and find one map to model all of chicago. We can then divide that into sections.

Downtown Chicago isn't very scary, hate to tell you. The outskirts, on the very very South West side isn't the nicest place but Chicago just has a small residential area on the South, a few blocks north of Comisky where all the "Gang" activity is.

I think...

Why make sense when you could make brownies?

In our game, the whole Chicago will be scary.... Well take a look, in Gta the place is much scarier then it would be in reality, mass of people day every day in 100 kilometer range.. (About 60miles maby)

P.S. NEW SITE IS RUNNING IN ITS FULL GLORY !

http://chicagorush.servegame.com/
YOU CAN POST IN FORUMS, (YOU HAVE TO BECOME A MEMBER FIRST THOUGH) ATTACHEMNTS UP TO 7 MB`S EACH. (though only for team members, for other will be set to lower)

There you will see two boards :

Media Only

Code

In media only you post if you made just a texture or car or something and want others to see, or if an outsider wants to donate his work, but in that case you should include some screene`s so that we can see.

Well... Trying to model Chicago is just one of the things... -_-'

Even if you say that this project will be big... I really don't think you guys know what you're entering... It took a team on many members to create GTA... Some years... And don't forget that they are proffesional, and problaly worked on the game every single day... So how long do you guys really think it will take to make this with a few amount of guys that aren't proffesional?

You say that you should be able to steal cars, planes and such... That takes a huge amount of physic coding if you want good physics Though about vehicle damaging? Where will you guys get all the needed sounds, musics? Good voice acting etc...

That's just a small part...

And what about the AI programming for the cars, pedestrians, enemies etc???

It's always nice to see programmers form at team and start a project... Sure you could make a GTA-like game, but why don't start smaller?

Yeap, and what you said isnt quite inspirative, The Nerd, though i have a respective look towards you, sence you are, by my oppinion, a very good coder, and yeap, it will not be WHOLE chicago (no pc could run that...), and yeap, detailing of graphic will be worse then in gta, car damaging isnt that much of a problem actually, in some older games, only a decal was pasted to car, and damage increased in a "damage bar" on the screen, as for phisics, they will also be in a simplified level, if you want to join, you are welcome, if you want to help, you are welcome to, but please leave it to that.

Hehe... I must have misunderstood you guys... I though you where planning something as crazy as modelling whole chicago... And making a game as detailed as the GTA games...

My bad, Sorry.

Good luck with the project guys!

Dodic, I wasn't saying that it was bad that you have the same name as a football team (or they would even care if they ever found out). I just think it's funny that you're a fan of the city and you live in Serbia.
