Heres a complete list of what i think should be planned for the game:

camera - everything third-person
level - various sections of chicago(not all of chicago)
people - you,pedestrians(walk from point a to point b),employees at shops...
controls - arrowkeys = movement,mouseclick = shoot,spacebar = pause menu,shiftkey = zoom(on guns able to zoom),enterkey to enter vehicles.
vehicles - cars,buses,taxi's...
time - modern
buildings - airports,houses,commercial buildings,landmarks(most will be interior/exterior unless there is no reason to add interior)
loading - probably in sections to maintain fps
items - guns,health,money,cds(possibly you could have a game radio, and could pick up new music to play?)
audio - radio(possibly in cars),sound(gunshot), background music,voice
guns - Unarmed,AK47,Uzi,A15,M16,MP5,Shotgun,Sniper,Pistol

Need I suggest an optional 1st person camera also a more variety of weapons and vehicles,and a player status screen for gamers? and just an idea, people could make there own in-game soundtrack for when your in the car or just listening to the radio and also key bindings to help people choose hotkeys.return feedback plz.

This will not happen becouse of the simple reason that already are many gta-stile games in progress, or comed out, like MAFIA, DRIVER 3, those are pretty similliar in game play, only difference actually is time, place, storry, and different phisics, thats all.

They cant protect gta-stile games to be made, like noone protected you to make the game "LINES" or any similliar, or checkers, or chess, etc.

p.s. I`m making some textures, maby you could use them for houses or something, but you will have to find a use of them, cause there not specificly made for anything..

The problem is that i need some pictures of houses, windows, etc to make good textures, and we need to take the pictures our self (becouse it might violite the copyright to use someone else`s picture of he`s house), and my Digital Camera broke down... Maby you two could get some pic`s, or already have them on your Hard Disk ?

Windows are most inportant.

I`m not sure about having rain, becouse firstly if we want to make a 3d particle engine, it`s going to take lot of polygons, to totaly "halt" the game, we need a 2d decay sistem or something, but for that details we can worry later, we should get on the most inportant part of the work :

Make a small map
Make car and humain (just for player, and his car)

Make an engine for player movement, and get-in-out of the car and drive the car (car driving engine), collision ....

First it would BE GREAT if you could finish a small map, just so that we can get some work done, we can change the map later, just so that we can get some work done, as i already said, Duke Blue Devils .

And please make a parking or something where the player will start and cars stand and everything, ok ?

You misunderstand me. I meant that I would import my map into Dark Basic and make a player and a car that he can use.

no, it comes up with syntax error if you type in 'idNumber as integer'

I dont have DBC, i have DBP, but i can still make it compatible with DB(i hope).

I have bouth DBC and DBP and FPSC and 3DGM (though the last two dont have anything to do with this project)

You can download the DBC 30-days trial demo, i really think they should give you acces to DBC when you buy DBP


I`m not really sure what "float" and other means, becouse i just got dbp few days from now.. if you could explain to me, i might be able to think of a replacement way in dbc.

We dont need much of an AI yet though, only simple movement and player get-in-out of car/drive car, i`ll try to make something like that, but sence i`m not really good at coding, i cant promis much.

You could make a different DIM for every part of the type, that would be difficult to use but it'd work:

dim speed#(15)
dim accel#(15)

instead of

type car
speed as float
accel as float
endtype
dim car(15) as car

float is basicaly a number with decimal points.

When I exported my map and some of the textures were missing I remembered that Cartography Shop only supports textures up to 256x256. I have to go back and fix them.

If Darkbasic didn't support User-Defined Type, wouldn't it have said syntax error on 'type peopleAI' rather than idNumber as integer?

Is there another thing i can do instead of AI?

to access each persons variable.

Or maybe you can and i just confused myself...

Here's the first demo of many to come. I started from scratch with the code because I didn't like the player movement. I changed it to use newxvalue and newzvalue instead-much smoother result.
