If you still need help, post topics specific to the problem. You wont get much help asking for questions in this thread because the name has nothing to do with getting help. About the "noob" comment, Im not one to name call but last time I checked, everyone on this "team" is still a "noob", and you calling those actual questions stupid is ironic as this is one of the dumbest threads I've seen on the DBP Board for a while. If you want people to know that they can join this project, edit the first post with a message containing information on where they can go to sign up - your site.

So, as I said before, stop clogging up these forums with this useless thread.

Don't judge people on the day they signed up.

Last time i checked, it was the DB board. And it's not dumb, we just started, so it's not like we have a full game

What's useless about the thread? We are making a game, we are showing progress. We aren't doing anything wrong. If you are so bothered by this thread, then it's as simple as clicking the 'top' button.

These are the DBC boards smart one. If you hate our project so much then just stay as far away from it as you possibly can (since you're a little slow, that means don't post).

Yes, this is the DBC Board, and I can see how you could come to the conclusion that posting a work in progress here would be correct. However if you scrolled down a bit more, you'd see the "Work In Progress Board", specifically for this type of thing. There you'll obtain far more feedback, critisism and help on the project then you would here, and will most likely recieve more views.

Thanks for the kind correction, DBC boards.

I dont think there is a reason to argue here

Duke Blue Devils @ Halo Man : Be kind and try to respect his comments.

@RUCCUS : You are an expirienced programmer, and though your comments are mostly constructive, try to avoid the replys being.. you know how.., it`s not only them who are causing this argue.

There is no fight, there is no argument. Im not starting anything, and havent yet, I dont see how someone can call other people "noobs" and turn around and get mad when they themselves are called one - for true reasons. Im fine with this project, in fact it seems like you've all planned out a fairly good beginning process, however, there is no reason for this topic to stop other people from getting help sooner, especially since theres a better place for it to be that would benefit both the creators and the viewers.

When someone turns around and says Im slow and in a sum; an idiot, based on nothing but the fact that theyre mad they got "yelled at" - if you can call it that - , then I lose all respect for that person, though Im sure that isnt worth anything to someone like you Duke.

I've pretty much said all I can say without going over the top and getting myself banned, so Ill leave this to the Mods to do with it what they see fit.

Believe it or not, I was trying to help.

Goodluck,

Just so you don't think I'm ignoring you I want to let you know that I'm going on vacation tomorrow (spring break!!! ). I'll be gone a week. Keep up the hard work on the project while I'm gone. Adios.

See if you can't figure out how to work the collision dll. See the code I attatched above.

also a slight prob with v002, i extract it and it won't compile cus of syntax errors. i found out it's 2 do with the functions with #include "collision_functions.dba"

i found the right functions in the collision functions file but 4 sum reason it won't include the file

Have you guys thought this through? I don't want to throw a wet blanket on ya, by a game like GTA will take years. You can't forget things like car physics, plane physics, the time it is gonna take to make chicago, artificial intelligence(getting pedestrians to stay on the sidewalk, police officers, getting cars to stay on the road and not break the law while driving). This will take a huge team, and again will be years before it is done.

Just making sure you guys know what you are getting into.

-Okashira

EDIT : Oh. And since you are making it is DarkBasic(especially since you are making it in DarkBasic Classic), not offense to DarkBasice, it is gonna be very slow. Crawling slow(unless you have a supercomputer, I don't .).

BUT... If you need a few textures, I might help a little if I can.

Let the games begin!

We've thought this through, we know it will take a while. We aren't doing all of Chicago, just major areas. There will most likely not be planes either, as most planes go to different states, not to different airports in the same city. AI will probably be the hardest of all, and no doubt the longest task, but I still think the whole team can manage it if we stick to it.

Neither v0.0.1 or v0.0.2 is working for me. In the first one, the player and taxi are untextured, and the the second the camera starts from far away and says runtime error.

Ok, i got my reistration code for Milkshape, so i'm working on models now for various things.

that's funny(as in strange not ha ha) with the first demo it said runtime error 190, so i added a few more features and made it into a .exe and it works fine on my pc, but when other people run it it says runtime error 190. anyone elses say that?

To be more specefic. It says that the graphic card doesn't support those features. It can also come from a broken driver.

@The Nerd
Do you have any idea on how to make collisions work properly? What is wrong with the code? I'm getting frustrated and thinking about switching to Nuclear Glory but I don't want to spend the money on it. I've used the trial version on previous projects and I like how smoothly it works.

Can someone start working on code for shooting?

Also, the demo works now(i'm running it on a better computer than last time), but the taxi and player are still untextured.

If you're seriouse about this project. Spending money in NuclearGlory should be no problem. Of course there is a reason for this It's very easy to setup just the collisions you want! And it's very precise. I cannot complain about anything in it. And version 4.2 will be very fast And as you say yourself, it is really smooth. And there are many options for setting up collisions in it... Like sticky collision, collisions without slopes, and so on.
