Hey guys!!,
Long time no post, and it looks like i have missed out on a LOAD of action. Ok, first a little update on my PC. When i got my PC back, i still had the temp problem, then my PSU exploded (which was NOT cool). I then ordered a new 520W one from Corsair, and 2 overclockers case fans. This has pretty much solved the temp problem, so Im happy!!. I also managed to fix my FPSC sound problem, so all the remains is to catch up on a bit of game level design, concerning the Abandoned tunnels; I might also start the Slums level (Level 4) along side to speed the process up, but I am aiming to take my time due to I want it to be my best work.
I am also recovering from a flu type virus, and thus haven't moved from bed as of yesterday. I have the day off tomorrow, so ill start game dev if I have the strength. I would also like to highlight that because of the comp delays etc, the new years suprise might be delayed for a few weeks, and thus delaying release ever so slightly in 2008, but now ETA is deffinate yet (so don't hold me to a specific month), but im aiming for mid 2008.
I have some issues to sort out with my AOL internet first which may require some of my time tomorrow, but as soon as I feel better tomorrow, I will start on my game dev, and thus continue after boxing day-ish (due to I need a break over X-Mas), but don't worry COZ is back on Track!!!

I would also like to take this chance to with everybody at TGC, and the forums a Merry Christmas and a Happy new Year

Stay tuned guys!!

Just a note to say that i am comencing a complete overhall of the DS intro level, and it's engine. Im am adding some new HUDS to the game, aswell as the GUI to make things more interesting.

Stay tuned

As part of the engine overhall, I have added a Insanity meter that will represent your health. It's not quite finished. I still need to finish the different stages within the bar. This will be done tomorrow. Other overhalls are:
*The first intro level (Being overhalled by D13: Thanks man)
*FPS optimisations
*New HUDS

I should have some shots up soon after i have caught up on the abandoned tunnels level, and then I shall start the slums level maybe before, or deffinately after X-mas.

@Jiffy: I just realised it was a typo. I meant to type Sanity Meter, so you could still use your insanity meter idea lol. Im on MSN over most of the weekend, so if you want to talk, feel free.

@Everybody else: Attached are 2 shots taken from within the Quarentined area of the tunnels. The player will have to go in search of a power generator to open the metal door leading down into the slums. If you look closely at the far door in the seccond shot, I have added blood splatters on the metal, but the Jpeg blurs it unfortuneatly. I have also been adding some custom door sounds to give it a personnal touch due to I think it's the little things that can make a game stand out. Also, God must love me because I managed to find most/all of my Door and info HUDS which saves alot of work The Insanity meter should be running by tomorrow, I just need to get the EnBoca setuplevel.fpi of D13 again due to I overwrited the file by accident, and thus I have lost the HUD co-ordinates.

Screenshot 1 Attached

Please leave feedback

CoZ

PS- Sorry for the quality. The fog smudges the shot slightly

It's a photograph that I took of a rusty pipe while i was out on day. I darkened it, added some more detail, and resized it, then added another custom made bloodsplat on the door which i had alpha channeled.

But you are using the door model and frame model from a model pack or stock? Which one would that be?

@ Inspire:It's the stock frame thats used when you export stuff using Magic FPS.

Just to let everyone know, ill probably have a bit of chill out time now thats it's leading up to X mas. I have am over 3 quaters of the way through the abandoned tunnels level, and im happy with how it's turning out. I have a rough sketch of the layout of the slums level, but I need to tie the story in with the level first. I will most probably work on the game tomorrow and X mas eve, so there might be some screenies before X mas day.

Have a good X mas everybody

More updates to come soon

Nice work COZ. Just a note but you shouldn't change your ending. I'm just going to pass on that idea so I don't mess anything up with you.

Best wishes.

Hey guys,
I have a question that i need answering. Fog or no Fog?. Attached is a shot showing the effect of the fog in game (down at the bottom of the stairs). Do you think it adds to the atmosphere and creepyness due to I can't deside fully. I do think it makes it slightly more creepy though.

Please leave your opinions

Yeh, definitely have fog, it gives it a sort of depth and it also makes it harder to see what's coming round the next bend.....

As much as it looks good and as much as i've wanted it, it kinda pales into near-insignificance next to my Xbox360 that i'm gettin'

Heh, this is the only year that I haven't received some sort of game system or PC upgrade (we opened our gifts early because we are leaving for vacation).

Screenshot looks fantastic, CoZ. By the way, if there is any media that you need for Demon Sun, feel free to ask me. I have no deadlines to meet, so I have the time. Just drop me an email.

@Inspire: Thanks mate. I could do with some chracters etc. Drop me a email when you get time so we can discuss it.

@Everybody else: I have fallen victim to Crysis and World in Conflict-itis since X mas day, so i haven't got any game dev done LOL. It should only last a few more days then ill get back on track. I just need to send my Crysis disk back tomorrow because a Scratch on the bottom, and it won't work

Oh and a D... ( i can't say it) might be coming out soon

Stay tuned

I do have a bit more work to do some i can prepare for the not completely deffinate vapourware which might be released on a parallel universe. The placebo will probably be the complete level of Duke Nukem Forever for you guys to sit there and go "wow", development for 9 years gave me this vapourware placebo set on a parallel universe.
