KeithC: Mmmm, strange, very strange indeed. According to all the other players, they got 32-33fps all the way through, and i got 33fps all the way aswell. Make sure you close ALL background apps, and try again. I even got 32fps straight through on a 6600 256MB on my old comp with a 2.0GHz pentium 4 (my very old comp). A background app or something must be sucking up your power.

Hope everything works ok

Josh

I've downloaded the most recent version and I have left it loading and 5 minutes later, it keeps showing "Detecting Shares" and the loading bar is not moving anywhere...

Opposing force: What are your PC specs, and did you extract the files from the zip before playing.

KeithC: Darkfact just sent me a email regarding your lag problem. He says, it may be because you comp does not have the corect pixel shaders to run the game. He says, it ran fine on a laptop with intergratedgraphics and shared ram. Are any other MODS taking part in this thread? If so, you could send the file to them, and they could judge it

hope that helps

NOTE@ On a rather serious note, I would like to add that NEITHER PGP or DS is supported by vista. If people are getting errors etc then it is most probable their vista OS, not the DS.exe. All XP users have had no problems with the game so far.

Just thought i would add this note as a reminder

More updates coming soon

FINAL NOTE: I shall again tomorrow be uploading the demo that is packaged with a earlier version of Phoenix. This was the version i used to package my very first demo, and it worked on everbody's system. This should solve ALL problems until DarkFact creates a fix. Could we also keep all bug reports out of this thread from now on. If anyone has a bug report please email it to DarkFact, and he shall sort it out.

Thankyou

I should have some shots up tomorrow if all goes well

COZ, I've returned your e-mail. I tried this with lower resolution and textures, but it still ran slow. I'll try it without shaders, etc. as well and see how it runs.

Look foward to playing the full demo.

hey guys,
I just got a email back form DarkFact explaining the 'detecting shares' error. It's becuase he forgot to add a line of code to PGP. He said his going to fix the problem this weekend and insure maxium compatabillity. In the meantime, here is a link for all those that had trouble playing. It should fix the problems for now. It was compacted using a earlier version of Phoenix.

All who haven't played, please leave feedback

@Robert F: Yes, that's what CoZ was talking about. I made the shares check trap the error, but forgot the code to allow the game to continue. I'm fixing that code this weekend and updating everything.

The fix before this one was for the decryption error. That fix has been confirmed to work. This is for the shares check. I forgot to add the "continue" code in the error trap.

Hey Guys,
Before I post my update I would like to say a few words. With all due respect, PLEASE could people email their Phoenix bug reports to DarkFact, rather than clogging up this thread with page after page of 'PGP doesn't work with vista' etc.. Im sorry if i come accross grumpy, i tend to get expressive when advertising my opinion

Anyway, rant over. Attached is a WIP shot showing a wrecked room within the tunnels. I still have a bit of work to do on this shot.

Please leave feedback

Wow, i have nothin more to say than i admire your talent of leveldesign. But one thing, shouldn't there be any light on the lamp by the table? Even if it's broken it looks like it's lit.

The lamp isn't broken. I placed it on the floor, right way up. It was going to be on it's side, but it looked stupid.

Hey guys,
Sorry for the lack of replys. I was sidetracked by massive piles of work that chained me down, and only recently have I had a chance to get back to game dev. I am still working on the abandoned tunnels level, and it's coming along nicely. Attached is a shot showing some wrecked abandoned part of the tunnels. (the shot came out quite dark for some reason). I still have a bit of work to do
Anyway please leave feedback

Shots soming sonn!!!

Downloaded it late last night at the library.

Having Dynamic Lights on seems to be the reason I have such a slow frame-rate. However, go ahead and send me the information I require for the BOTB (according to the first post in the BOTB thread). Congratulations.

I just played the beta linked to in the BOTB thread, awesome stuff. You got me so edgy that when I accidentally walked on a trash can and it made a footstep sound (a rather loud and obnoxious one at that) I nearly flew out of my seat. Though the first one that got me was the box - freaked by a falling box

played the demo and it was alright, o but only 2 enemies? and i thought the lighting was too dark, but the level design and entity placement were quite nice. The scares were pretty good.

@i want to game: Thanks for the opinion. Allow me to answer some questions.
As for the enemies, that was done knowingly. If i threw enemy after enemy at you, it would ruin the atmosphere and the effect of the game. Of course, there will be more enemies in future levels, just don't expect to be fighting 40 zombies at once. It's all about building up the atmosphere slowly and gradually, then you hit the player with a scare. That works better than throwing zombie after zombie at them.
As for the lighting, the level is ment to be Dark and gloomy. I always aim to create a gloomy atmosphere using lights. Maybe it was your screen brightness, due to other users haven't commented on this.

@Inspire: Thanks mate

@Airslide: Thanks for the review. Hope you don't have nightmares about boxes!!

@Everybody else: I shall be working on the abandoned tunnels level after I have had some food, because im very hungry, and I can't work on empty stomach. I also have a bit of work to do, so I shall be balancing it out, but Game Dev will get the most of my time

Expect updates soon

@ Everybody else: I have just finished work on a sightjacking video, and im just making some new textures for the abadoned tunnels level. I might have some screenshots up later today, depending on how quick i get these textures done.

Anyway back to work

If it's an abandoned tunnel, my tip is the butter cutter, so that you walk a dark corridor, and suddenly the wall explodes and there comes 43 billions of zombie rabbits to eat you. Nah, but some holes and an breaking wall when you are not ready will get you all scared.
