Well things have prevented me from emailing you and also I'm having problems running the new demo. It stops at checking shared files and then runtime error. I'll try it on a diffrent computer and see how it goes.

@ASTEK: Remember you MUST have .NET Framework 2 installed to run the game. Tell me if it works on your other comp. Aswell as .Net framework 2.0, you must have a updated version of Direct X. Close ALL windows before running

KeithC: I should have a complete demo completed by monday/tuesday. I shall email you the link then

@Everybody else:
Attached is a screenshot showing a old plastered room at the end of the level. I really like this shot due the illumination map of the wall light, and the metalic texture on the crates to the left of the shot.
Let me know what you guys think

The screen looks really good! It's a retexture right? The box's shape looks familiar to the sci-fi one.

Done and done... already had them before I started it and no programs or Firewalls and security operating. As for the computer I'm on now, my internet wot allow me to download the game onto this one but as I'll be visiting my home computer I'll try and get it once again and try it to send the error file. Like I said it told me it was a runtime error.

@Johny English: I would think so. Version 3.0 should be backwards compatible with 2.0

I don't understand what people are doing wrong to get all these problems...worked fine for me on all of the computers I played Phoenix games on.

It's like FPSC itself...no software works 100% without error on 100% of the computers out there.

In the case of Johny English (and other non-English players) I believe it's their computer's default language setup. The encryption codes have symbols in them for characters that probably aren't used on their system. I'm going to re-code this part for all editions and issue patches.

I sent an email to CoZ thanking him for his continued support of Phoenix. His demo is giving me tons upon tons of valuable test data and troubleshooting methods. Programming for every computer setup on the planet is no easy task! Thanks again, CoZ!

No, I'm fixing that issue as we speak. I'll upload an updated demo in a few hours once I've changed all the codes and re-tested it. Just FYI, the codes had the "$" in it and that symbol is not used on all computer systems. I'm changing those codes so they contain only universal characters and symbols.

Hey Guys,
As DarkFact has said, he shall be uploading a working version of the demo in a few hours for everyone that had trouble. I shall then be emailed a update from DarkFact that will fix this issue in Phoenix. This now means that all games built with Phoenix there-after won't have this problem. so..Problem solved.
All of which that had trouble playing (asetek etc), please leave reviews after playing!!

More shots coimng VERY soon

@Naikaido: Yes that was a retexture of the sci-fi crate. And thanks for the comment mate!!

Here's the updated demo that should fix the decryption error. The error does not occur on English language systems, so I can only assume it's the OS language set causing the issue. I don't have the means to test it though.

I need to know the computer specs for Johny English and Opposing Force before I can continue. Please post them to include your OS and OS Version. Also, is you computer a Desktop or Laptop. What type of CPU processor do you have? I need to find out what's different (if anything) from these computers. Thanks ~DF

I've sent out emails to Johny English and Opposing Force about testing, but haven't gotten a reply. I've totally re-written the encryption modules so they're more universal, but I can't test them since my computers don't give errors.

Sorry, CoZ...Gotta wait.

It's just a thought... but with all these problems... how is it when you release this game commercially that you can garuntee that it will work for everyone? You'll release the game and people will be flooding you inbox Darkfact with error complaints and such and you will have to sort it out all the time. It wouldget tirring...

Are you joking? No company can do that. Not even TGC. That's why software companies have support staff, support forums and support contracts.

Have you seen the "inbox" of Valve? How big do you think Lee Bamber's inbox is?

There is no way on earth to guarantee that a computer program will run 100% of the time on 100% of the computers on this planet.

Of the 100 something downloads so far of this demo, 2 people had a decryption error. That's been fixed as far as I can tell. Troubleshooting never ends. Ask any programmer.

Got it and just replied. Thanks!

BTW, if you use Vista, you have to make sure your account type is Administrator and that you're running the program as Administrator. This is true for FPSC as well.

Hey,
You guys have certainly been busy with the reply's. May I first say, On behalf of DarkFact that this is NOT his fault. Of course, I am not wonderfully happy that this has happened, but you have just got to except it, and tough it out. It's all part of Game Dev. On a positive note, only 2 people have had this problem, and it has worked fine with all the others (thats a 1-2% error margin), out of ALL the Downloads. I am 99% positive that DarkFact will successfully tackle this problem, and release a fix very soon.

@DarkFact: Keep me updated via email

@KeithC: Cool. I will upload first thing monday morning at work, if i can, and i shall send you the email with DL link as soon as i get home. I hope you will enjoy playing.

Anyway, im currently constructing level 3 (The Abadoned tunnels). It's shaping up rather nicely. Expect some shots soon!!!

Updated Demo: v0.85b

This is a re-upload of the most current demo. If you have already played it without error, then you do not need this file.

Notes: In order to play on a computer with Vista, make sure your account type is Administrator. Also, you must run the program in Administrator mode. You must have the .NET 2.0 framework or higher installed. As with all FPSC games, your DirectX must be 9.0c with the latest updates applied. Please ensure that your Video resolution is set to 800x600 or higher in a 4:3 ratio.

Support:
If you have any technical issues running this game, please send a bug report (the error.txt file in the game's root directory) along with your complete computer specs including OS and OS Version to: david.n.goodman@gmail.com

Well, I checked it out. I tried playing it with all the bells and whistles (I have a 256 ATI card, 2.8GHZPentium, and 1 gig of DDR), but it was very slow (almost to a standstill) in some places...some of the slow down appeared to be because of the stalker scenes loading.

Other than that, it was very well lit; and the whole "mood" was great. I'll have to try it with lower settings I guess; though I would think that my comp should be able to handle it at full settings.
