....oh.my.god.

You are my hero. Incredible work buddy! I used to have similar huds when I tried to mimic the ones from the crysis beta a couple months back. They looked good, but I never had a SCAR to match 'em with... or good level design for that matter

The hud is great, fits really well! Only thing I can think of is that you misspelled 'transmission'. Other than that, great work!

@Roger Wilco,

Doh! *slaps head*. Thank you mate. I'll get onto that right away.

@DarkFrost,

Those are some brilliant ideas! Thank you a bunch for inputting. I love the idea of a cracked screen, and I reckon I'm going to input that feature. The gradient/screen wipe would be pretty awesome too!

The only downfall of the HUD numeric is that the players health is actually at 80, and FPSC doesnt support angles like that for numeric =/ I've tried.

I could make different HUDs which each number, but is it worth having multiple HUDS? (80,79,78 etc) And plus the people will be confused as to why the players health is 80 at max. That's why I made a circle health bar, haha!

Thank you for your ideas mate. Any more you have, hit me up on msn! I'll be glad to hear from you.

@OutdoorGamer,

I'm moving down under to Australia to live with my girlfriend who I have a long distance relationship with. I just came back from visiting her but its so amazing that I want to live there permanently! Luckily for me, I found a way that I can, so I'm trying to find a full time job to save up to get there this year, in under 4-5 months hopefully. I'll still work on Alpha Project though when I can, like now, haha!

Awesome work, some very groundbreaking achievements inside. Keep it on, and if you need any help where I seem to be useful, drop me some lines...

Looks absolutely brilliant. Only one concern (again )

The bullet holes or whatever cracks look nice, but what if the player gets a healthpack? Are the holes just going to vanish? Or are you going to add some more gameplay elements like finding a new helmet?

God that sounded somehow sarcastic but none intended.

Gaaaah. This game is really getting horrific. I would rather die than put my hands to that to heal myself (First class syringe phobia here.)

That green screen is animated, right?

@Juzi,

It will be when its FPSC ready. I need to texture it and then rig it.

Whilst helmets provide some source of health, these health stations are the main source of health.

Awesome! Wouldn't it be cooler if the hands will be putted in "flipped" the other way, so the needle hits the wrists?

Just a suggestion You're doing an awesome job here! Keep it flowing

Oh man, that thing where the needle goes in your hand reminds me of dead space 2 stick a needle in your eye part of the game *cringes* . Nah man that's pretty cool, I wonder how you will get the players hands in their.

Nice you took my idea, and turned it into something great.

Wish I had the time to try making one myself...

I don't FPSC too much anymore.

EDIT: Maybe try using photoshop and free transform the bullet holes to give a more "warped" effect (right-click and choose warp when free-transforming). If you don't have access to it, I don't mind doing the warping for you.

One error I noticed with the health station which is easy to fix as it's just texture stuff: The straps and the arm images seem to go funnily if you know what I mean. One side of the each strap goes directly from top of the arm images.

@defiler,
I was planning on just having an animation and a sound playing with some HUD effects. It'll be too much of a pain to animate arms.

@DarkFrost,
They're more or less just general cracks, as you wont get shot at during the game due to the enemies being melee based only.

@Juzi,
Already fixed.

No what I meant is.. warp em to make em match the other huds.

Since they currently look like flat overlays. If you add a slight curve to give the illusion they are on the helmet visor not just an overlay to the screen.

EDIT: Btw, I was curious as to how your M4 looks so clean and sharp. Are you enabling the AA on your graphics card, or is that simply an illusion the film-grain is creating?

Question: what do you do to make the hud have have lossless quality when bringing the hud into FPSC, for some reason when i bring mine in it loses quality and sometimes the blured blue edges on my hud becomes pixely :\

@ Wolf: nonono, like when i bring it into fpsc it goes pixelish, i have the texture size in GIMP set to 1024 by 768 and by aligning the texture on the x and y axis to 50 each i am able to fill the size of the screen.

maybe i should of posted this in my own thread instead of posting here i was just not sure.

@lewis: Is that EAI's scar? If not, and you want new animations for it, I would be glad to make you some. It seems a shame to use the same animations on each gun.

@General Jackson,

It is EAI's SCAR I'm afraid, my friend. Thank you kindly for offering to help! I might have some other things that need animating if you want to help?

@cmando,

No Project Blue release = No updates

I cant test or build anything until I get a build with the SP1 fix. I'm still doing minor tweaks here and there with the HUD though.

Update:

Finally got a working copy of Project Blue now. Here's a few screenies to give you guys a little sneak peak at what I'm adding into the game:

Two enviroment shots with new entities

HUD update, and a preview into the infection 'powers' system

The new HUD might only be temporary right now, it just depends if I can get permission off Horizon to use it in my game for commercial use. I used a part of his HUD and edited it.

What do you guys think on the HUD? Is it too clunky and do you prefer the old version, or does is look better?

@Bootlicker,

The weapon information is displayed based upon if you are carrying a weapon, and if you are using your powers.

When you use your powers for short bursts, your HUD fades out and you see the infection veins instead, then it reverts back to your HUD when you return back to your normal state.

Sorry for the confusion the screenshots caused.

@Wolf,

Quote: "Oh! The Player can get infected?"

In the games story, you are injected with a ability enhancing serum. Unlike the other subjects that mutated or went crazy from the side effects (you'll learn the side effects in game), your powers manifested as you progress throughout the game and you can use them to get through traps and things you usually wouldnt.

Powers:
Guard - Ability to withstand damage for a short amount of time, sacrificing your speed, making you walk slower.
Strength - Allowing you to jump to greater heights and increasing melee damage on enemies when using melee weapons.
Speed (may change) - Allows you to use your agility boost to overcome obstacles.

Lewis, I haven't been here for some time but I thought I would check how things are coming along on these forums and I noticed your project. I'm very impressed.

I noticed you're using Project Blue but were having some issues with it, is it just that you can't make a final build of your game?

It was things like the freezing menus that were stopping me from making a finished build.
