CTM: your right, but that's on me though. I've only got 2 fingers that I can use on my left hand, so I set my stuff up for one handed play with my right.

So instead of using the standard W,A,S,D keys for movement, I use the arrow keys on the right side of my keyboard.

Thats, not all she does. There are a total of six different displays on the destination screen. Six on the activation screen.

It's hard to see from the room setup I used, but once the destination is set, then confirmed, (you can scroll back if tou made a selection by mistake), The Power rods open they're shutters, and animate. The 2 large units on the arms swing in on either side of the pad and animate, and the animated transport beam appears.

The chosen destination also appears on the activation screen. Also if you try to use the teleporter without setting your destination first, you'll get a nasty little shock.

Truly, a scripting masterpiece. Conjured has outdone himself! It really is amazing.

I'll upload a new video (better quality) to show the whole process from a different POV so you can see it all.

What I admire most is the ability, not only to choose your destination by simply placing the reciever pads anywhere you want,(inside a hidden weapons cache, or store room), but by simply renaming any model as a pad, you can transport onto other objects.

The big alien structure in the video was set as "pad4". So I was able to beam right on top of it.

And the setup is ubelievably simple. Just place your entities, and name your pads. "That it, your done"!

In the final release there will be a second moniter, with a blank screen that you can use as a "key" for pad locations. You can custimize it to suit your needs by editing the texture.

example:

"Pad 1- 2nd floor Hallway"
"Pad 2- Storage Room"
"Pad 3- Engineering"
"pad 4- Transporter Room 2"

The "free TrueType Font" will also be included so your screens will match up.

To any scripters who would like to contribute....

If you have any cool ideas for this project, but need models to realize your creation. Drop me a line. I'll provide all the models you need to make it work.

One idea I've been playing around with is an Airlock/ Decontamination chamber. Again, a fully interactive, or even automatic system to simulate a working airlock. Complete with animated switches,cycling doors, spawning atmosphere(steam), and dynamic lighting, etc.

So, if you would like to get your hands on some free models for your projects, give me a shout while this community project is still going.

Note to all: As Stated, this is a "Community Mega Pack", so no definite release date has been set. I wont release this untill there is enough content to justify it's Mega Pack status.

Yeah, I am aware of the plrfreeze=x, but I rarely use it.
I set the keys up for taps instead of holding down anyway, so you can easily set the destination without going out of the zone.
I intended it to be like it is, but anyone who wants to add to the script is certainly welcome to.

I noticed the food maker had the question mark.
I was thinking of a food dispenser earlier today, and I was thinking of making it give you different amounts of health gain depending on the item chosen.
Of course it would be tied to my cash system, so that you would need money to use it and the items could be priced differently as to reflect the health gains.

A sci-fi toilet would be cool.

You just change the name of the entity you want to teleport to.
Name the destination entities pad1, pad2, pad3, and pad4 ...that is it.
You rename it by right clicking the entity in the edtior and changing the entity's name in the properties.

If you mean chaning the names on the display to something other than pad1 pad2.. then just edit the textures for the destination and activation consoles.

Even if you change the textures though, you still need to name the pads pad1 through pad4, because the scripts call them that way and the player never sees that part anyway.

I extremely apologize for the segment that was contributed to the pack.
it was not contributed by me, but by my brother using my pc. He unfortunatly does not know the meaning of LYING and PIRATING. Misusing the freedom I gave him, he sent CP a mail and used a texture from google images. I am amazed that he then lied and said that he bought the textures. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused the community, CP, and the creator of the texture. Sorry about this long rant but this just makes me soo mad :S

I will put him up to creating a bunch of media for this pack to make up for this. He does have his own acount on the forums, jkdoomer I think, so anything should be directed to him.

Or just make a generic vending machine with the same attributes, The model and textures could be swapped to use it however you want. Sci-fi, horror, modern, ect.

anayar: Well, OK. Ive already sent Dawid an e-mail to sort it out, he has not replied yet. The segment will not be used. (Unless he gives permission.)

These community packs are for developers to come together, and show off they're skills, and make a contribution back to the community for all the cool stuff we get for free ( And too often take for granted) around here.

Taking a texture you find somewhere online, and running it through Firma, is not what this is about. If they are textures that are created by you, that's different. You are then sharing "your own skills" with the rest of us, not someone elses.

So please keep this in mind, and know ahead of time, that any questionable material will be scrutinized, validated, and rejected if found to be misleading or fraudulant in any way.

Oh, and it's extremely unwise to let others use your account for anything. Nuff said!

Cp, I got your email, fixed your animations and replied back.

Also if anyone out there considers' themself to be a wizard at scripting, we need scripts for vanilla, project blue and fenix to be used with my remote suit to open doors. My idea was to use my weapon as Lewis did in his game, but a variation of it. If anyone is interested in trying email me and I will send the stuff that you need to make it work. Thanks.

time for something needed, a Escape Pod!

i will see to it that the door will open and close, and that you can walk around, but it will be up to the designer to place props inside, as there will be only a main window at the front and 2 small moniters, default texture for the moniters will be black, you may change it once it gets released in this pack.

now for a picture, i might need help getting it into fpsc with the doors able to open and close.

edit: holy smokes, that teleporter looks win. Good Job!

I can do the PB scripts for the suit. Shoot me an email and I'll have a go with it. Been having an urge to do some game related coding, but not the motivation to start up a full project. This will probably fit the bill nicely.

I am a HUGE fan of scifi weaponry, especially the ones that are more "out there". I enjoy the lawnmower lookalike deathray type weapons more than the "I put some spacey plastic on my regular gun" weapons.


In any case, give me a weapon and I'll make a script for it.

Well, I offered to help starmind animate. We came to the consensus that people might like an animation variation, so hopefully we'll have two different renditions of the anims. I just finished my first attempt on his weapon and am about to test it out. Once the anims are done, the scripting will follow.

You're right, the thread is open now... strange I went to post something there earlier and it was locked.

That was me, I assumed CP had placed the same post promoting the mega pack in all forums and the script forum isn't for models / media. As long as that thread stays about scripting then that should be fine.
