Well, it pleases me to hear that you liked it that much, considering it isn't really your style, Indicium!
What is your genre, though?
Yeah, I have my days of talentedness.

No worries, I will.

A few examples: I can't promise they'll be to your liking.

Architects - Early Grave These are by far my favourite.

[/href]

Lovers Grave - Royal Blood

I look forward to hearing the rest of your recording.

@The Slayer

I really like that riff too. I like the additional of some electronic pads etc. Metal musicians shouldn't be afraid to mess about with electronic stuff to get some more atmosphere into their tracks.

I just realised I have one metal tune which is suitable for these forums. I am not a very good guitarist, but can play a semi-decent tune. My mate is on his electronic drum kit, which is why it sounds a little ... electronic in places. And that's me on the vocals! mwahah. As I said, not particularly serious as the lyrics and sound FX demonstrate.

@Fallout:
Musically, it sounded like you were listening to Iron Maiden when you wrote the song, lyrically it sounded like you were watching Shaun of the Dead at the time. The song was very funny though (not in a bad way).

Iron Maiden is my fave Metal/Rock band, so that'd be why. I'm surprised the influence was so obvious though. Good ears!

That riff came to mind one day, and luckily I was at home, so I recorded it immediatly. Didn't wanna forget the riff. Heheheh.
There's been times that I had superb riffs in my head, but when I got home, they where partially or completely gone.

Yeah, I like to add keyboards 'n FX to my songs, without overdoing it.

Its not bad at all, Fallout!
You have a nice clean voice. The low notes where not sung all that perfectly, and for a metal song it needs more punch and screaming, but overall it was pretty good.
The riffs where not complex, but efficient and well played.

Yeah, that described the song. Definatly some Iron Maiden influences, which I appreciate a lot.
It was funny indeed! Heheheh!

Thanks Slayer. Yeah, I know I don't have the best voice, but beggars can't be choosers. Since it was more for comedy purposes, I guess I can get away with it though. Having said that, if I could sing like James Hetfield or Bruce Dickinson, I'd probably want to have a go at more serious choonage.

Looking forward to more Slayer riffs in the future. You should do us a rendition of you playing Raining Blood. That's one of my fave metal songs (timeless).

Well, your singing was actually good, considering it was intended to be funny.
With proper singing lessons and practice, you'd improve a lot.

Ahaa, that's not a bad idea. I'll see whut I can do. Heheheh.
Anyone else got a request?

Sorry its not your cup of tea, but thanks for the comments anyway.

Here's something I made too, which is not metal at all. It's a little trance/house stylish piece of a song that I'm working on, probably for another game I'm making. It has a (simple) guitar solo at the end, so let me know what you think of it. Thanks.

Well, as it seems you guyz are more into metal, and there's also a request for me doing a cover of Slayer's 'Raining Blood', I have some good news.
I started on it. Heheheh.
Its not finished, but I would like you all to hear it and tell me what you think. Thanks in advance!

Cool stuff mate. You have a really nice sound to your amp which comes close to the original. I noticed you stopped before the mega fast bit though!

When I fix my guitar (or should I say, botch it by bypassing the volume pot altogether), I'll upload my rendition. I am no where near good enough to play it properly, and I'm rubbish at it, and it will be utter crap, but I'll upload it for laughs.

Awesome! I'll look forward to hear your version of Raining Blood.
The riffs aren't that difficult, though. Heheheh.

@Interplanetary Funk:
You should definitely learn this song first:

Really though, if you want to do slap bass, some good bands / artists to listen to are; Red Hot Chili Peppers, Stevie Wonder, Wild Cherry.

@Le Shorte:
I like them, but I'd never put them in my top artists. In Keeping Secrets and From Fear Through the Eyes of Madness were just too boring, I thought. Their other albums are excellent though.

just got back from seeing RUSH in concord; the show was amazing, as expected. while the venue is semi-infamous for its poor accoustics, everything sounded great from section 204 (row d, to be specific and incase you might be going there sometime soon ).

so far, the only youtube that i found from tonight's show is the odd, reggae-esque version of working man (which i didn't really appreciate, i'll be honest. atleast they went to the "normal" version for the 2nd 1/2 of the song).

(vid is crap but the sound is decent)

no opening act = extra-long rush set (including moving pictures, complete) with 20-30 min intermission inside. so many great songs to choose from which is bittersweet. ie, i could run a couple dozen off from the top of my head that i would have liked to hear.

anyway, that's your bay area music report for the night. long live the spirit of the radio!

ps, jeku? any chance you made it to the show? feeling homesick yet?

yeah they played both caravan and brought up to believe which are really good. caravan sounds like 3-4 pieces of classics seamlessly put together = great song.

a buncha vids now from the concord, ca show on youtube (not those 2, tho)

of note, geddy can't hit/hold the notes anymore like he does on the albums & i really don't mind because he knows it. you can smile and laugh it off and continue to enjoy it mainly because he does, too. i can't say that for someone like, say, ozzy who massacres songs anymore but (obviously) struggles to find "it", still. hallford recognizes he can't do some of it, too, and adjusts how he sings live. i guess the whole "time machine" theme, shouting and reinforcing the obvious, sets the perspective. some guys, like rush, are growing old gracefully... doing their best to put on a great (great) show, accepting the reality of time, knowing their past, chock full of "perfection", will make up for anything they might fall short on now. it's refreshing to see someone roll with it vs fight it every step of the way, sometimes.

I like Cannibal Corpse and Sepultura too, aswell as Dire Straits or bands like The Eagles, Fischer Z and the earlier work by U2. There's lots of music I can listen too, but metal will always remain the one and only genre I truly like.

That's good, I'll look forward to the new album then (not that I wouldn't anyway).

Geoff Tate has the same problem, but almost all QR fans just seem to get upset, like it's his fault. I don't understand why though, the only heavy albums they really had were their first EP and The Warning. Nothing after that was 100% metal. Side note: The new album is awesome.

@Kezzla:
The best bands in your list are Meshuggah, Gorillaz, Dire Straits, Sepultura, Pantera, Mr. Bungle, RadioHead, Tom Waits, RATM, Beethoven and CCR. I can't stand the others though.

Side note pt. II:

New DT song was uploaded. It's rather disappointing to be honest, it just sounds like an outtake from Black Clouds.

I'm much more excited for the new Trivium album.

And of course the new Machine Head album

I thought half of SSTB, half of From Fear, and half of YOTBR, and part of In Keeping Secrets, were rather boring. That being said, I wouldn't exactly go out of my way to listen to a lot of their songs, but the ones I do like are good enough to help C&C keep my first place.

Edit: Three Evils is my favorite song off In Keeping Secrets, and From Fear Through The Eyes of Madness mostly sounded the same, besides The Suffering/Wake Up/Always & Never/Welcome Home. My favorite song by C&C is probably Feathers...

The new drummer for Dream Theater seems to have integrated well in the band.
The song is not like their 'classic' stuff, and maybe less 'metal', but it sounds great nonetheless. I hope the other songs live up to their reputation.

Hum, I've never heard Trivium play, but it sounds great. And, the song by Machine Head is of a great caliber too.

Ow yeah, for those who await the Slayer cover of 'Raining Blood' by me, I'm happy to tell you guyz (n chicks) that I'm working on it.
In the mean time, you can listen to another new demo song that I recorded a few days ago. Enjoy, and please please please, do comment. Thanks!

Awesome. You seem to have a gift for writing old school Thrash Metal style riffs. It also helps that the sound you've achieved on your guitar is a very clear and "classic" sounding one, rather than the awful scratchy and fuzzy sound they go for nowadays.

You also got the drums much better this time. Not quite as overbearing as a few of your previous songs. They seemed just right this time.

Heheheh, thanks! Its good to know that you still appreciate good old thrash metal. Yeah, the guitarsound on this piece of a song has a typical sound which I like.

Aaah, that's good to hear. I've been experimenting a bit to get the drums to sound well balanced, so guess it has payed of.

They're not bad musically, but I can't get past Bono's atrocious vocals.

That must have been fun. Was it just them playing, a few bands or a large festival?

I've got to agree with Herakles, the drums sounded awesome in the new song. The guitar work was excellent and as always, had a nice sting to it.

Cool. Actually, pretty cool.

I like all music, personally.

Seriously. When a pop song comes on the radio I whistle along, but I also stomp to bluegrass. My personal favorite genre is, and I've said this before, humor. Just because it gives you a little of every genre and makes you laugh.

I find it annoying when my best friend says he's the god of music on the street, but he can't stand half the music on the Earth.

Anyway, yeah. Cool song.

I was going to create a new thread for this, but figured it would be better to create a post here.

Does anyone know of any bands with a vocal style similar to the clean vocals sung by ICS Vortex in songs such as in The Invaluable Darkness (1:55). It truly is a beautiful piece of harmony work

@The Wilderbeast:
Some good bands are
Fearbringer
Vintersorg
Týr
Windir - clean vocals start at ~2:55

Well, check out this band, Augury. It has everything in it, guttural voices, screams, clean singing, female voices, and on top of that, they are really talented musicians too.
Not all of them songs have clean vocals, but here are some:

Here's another band that uses clean vocals/black metal vocals:

This may seem weird to everyone, but I fancy the Japanese music. Like J Pop and such. I don't know exactly why, but I just like that more than any other music. The there's also Enya.

Very nice song!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I'll probably finish up the 'Raining Blood' cover by Slayer this week. Hehhehehh! Maybe not the entire song, but at least most part of it. Including the intro with the rain.
So, just a bit more patience.

Cheers
